Help with Our Father

Our Father is a place to pray for people you'll never meet, and to be prayed for by them. If something isn't working or someone has behaved badly, write to us and a person will read it.

Reporting something you shouldn't have seen

Every prayer, note, confession, and voice recording in the app can be reported. Look for the flag icon on a prayer, or the word Report next to a note or recording.

Reporting a prayer, note, or recording does two things at once: it hides that content from you immediately, and it blocks the person who posted it so nothing of theirs reaches you again. Reporting a confession hides it from you. Every report also reaches us. A confession that two members report, or a prayer that three people report, is hidden from everyone, and we may ban accounts that keep breaking the rules from posting.

Deleting your account

Open Settings from your profile and choose Delete account. You need to be online. Deletion starts at once, and our server may take a short time to finish removing everything. Your prayers, the notes and recordings you sent, your updates and confessions, your group memberships, and your account itself are removed, and they leave our seven-day recovery history within seven days. You cannot undo it, and we cannot restore the account. A few records that contain nothing you wrote stay afterwards to prevent abuse; the privacy policy lists them.

Deleting a voice recording you sent

Open your profile, go to the "You prayed" tab, find the prayer you recorded for, and choose Remove under the recording. The audio is deleted. The prayer you made still counts.

Keeping your prayers when you change phones

By default your account lives only on the phone you created it on. To carry it across, open Settings and choose "Keep your account", then sign in with Apple or Google. On a new phone, tap "Already have an account?" on the first screen and sign in the same way.

I updated the app and my prayers are gone

If you used Our Father before September 2026, this version runs on an entirely new foundation and older accounts could not be carried over. We're sorry. Nothing was given away or misused; the old records simply cannot be reached from the new app. Starting again takes about thirty seconds, and signing in with Apple or Google will keep the new account safe from here on.

Who can see what I write

A prayer you share publicly can be seen by anyone using the app, next to the name you chose, and by anyone who opens a link to it, without signing in. Your personal invitation link also shows your name and your most recent public prayer, and messaging apps show previews of these links. A note or recording you attach to someone's prayer goes only to that one person. Prayers inside a group are visible to that group's members, and anyone holding the invite code of an open group outside a church can also read its most recent prayer. Anyone with a group's invite code can also see who is in it, including someone who was removed from it. Confessions are visible only to the group's members and never show a name. There is more detail in the privacy policy.
